APEX HUNT · BY FIELD ARMOR
Privacy Policy
Last updated September 24, 2026
Apex works with no account and no signal. Your spots, your journal and your photos stay on your phone unless you choose one of three things: sign in, turn on backup, or join a crew.
What never leaves your phone
The map, the covert scores, stand data, navigation, your pins, your recorded tracks, your journal entries and every photo you attach are stored on the device and used there. Opening the app, looking at the map, scoring ground or navigating to a covert sends us nothing — there is no background reporting of where you are or where you hunt.
Photos are a deliberate case: a scouting-report or trail-camera photo is written to the app's own storage and is never uploaded. If you back your records up, the backup carries the photo's filename so the record still makes sense, not the image.
What we collect, and only when you ask for it
- An account — if you sign in with Apple or Google, we receive the identifier that provider issues for you, your email address (with Sign in with Apple this may be a private relay address that hides your real one), and a display name so your crew knows who shared a spot. Or, if you create a Field Armor account, the email address you give us — used to send you a one-time sign-in code, and to match a subscription bought on fieldarmorusa.com to your account. Either way, Apex never sees or stores a password.
- Backup, if you switch it on — your pins, saved coverts, journal, sits, scouting reports and tracks, which include the coordinates in them. They are encrypted on our server. We hold the key, because the point of the feature is that we can hand your records back to you on a new phone: this is encrypted storage, not end-to-end encryption. Backup is off until you turn it on.
- Crew, if you join one — spots you share with your party, chat messages, and your live position while you have location sharing switched on. Your crew can see these; that is what the feature is. Live positions expire automatically (you choose how long, up to 12 hours) and messages are deleted after a retention period.
- A push token, if you allow notifications, so crew messages can reach your phone. It is deleted as soon as Apple tells us it is dead.
- Your subscription, if you buy Apex Pro — the record Apple or Field Armor sends us (subscription id, plan, dates, trial or paid, renewing or cancelled), kept so the app knows whether you are Pro. It is kept after you delete your account, because it is a record of a payment; it is never used for anything else.
What we do not do
- No advertising, no ad networks, no data brokers.
- No third-party analytics or tracking SDKs. Apex does not track you across other apps or websites, and there is nothing in the app that could.
- We do not sell your information, and we do not share it with anyone except the crew you chose to join.
- We do not collect your location for our own purposes — not to improve scoring, not to count users, not at all.
Service providers
Sign-in with Apple and Google is handled by them; they verify your identity and tell us only the identifier, email and name described above. Field Armor sign-in codes are delivered by our email provider (Resend), which sees your address and the message. Push notifications go through Apple. Map imagery and the place search are fetched from their providers as you use them, which means those providers see the request.
Weather. Weather comes from Open-Meteo, whose forecasts are open data. To get it, the app sends the place it needs weather for — where you are, or a spot on the map — to our server, which rounds it to about a kilometre and looks it up in our own copy of Open-Meteo's weather service, running on our server. That copy fetches the public forecast data for the surrounding area, tens of kilometres across, so no one outside Apex sees your device, your request or your position. If our copy is ever down, we may ask Open-Meteo's own servers instead, from our address and with only the rounded location. We keep that rounded location in memory for up to ten minutes, so the next person asking about the same area gets the same answer, and we never write it down or tie it to you.
Payments. If you subscribe on iPhone, Apple processes the payment; we receive a signed record of the subscription (its id, product, dates and status) so we can turn Pro on for your account — never your card or billing details. If you subscribe through Field Armor, Wix processes the payment on fieldarmorusa.com; we receive the order's id, plan, status, dates and the email address you used, and again never your card. Nothing else is handed to a third party.
How long we keep it
Account records last as long as the account. A backup is replaced each time it is written and kept until you delete it or the account. Crew positions expire on the timer you set. Chat is dropped past a retention cutoff.
Deleting everything
Open Account in the app and tap Delete my account. That permanently removes your account, your crew membership and any backup you have stored with us. What is saved on your phone stays on your phone — it is yours, and deleting the account does not reach into the device. You can also delete the app, which takes the on-device data with it, so export or back up first if you want to keep your journal.
Children
Apex is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect information from them.
Changes
If this policy changes in a way that affects what we collect, we will update this page and the date at the top, and say so in the app.
